"Three Translations of The Koran (Al-Qur'an) side by side"

P: And let not thy hand be chained to thy neck nor open it with a
complete opening, lest thou sit down rebuked, denuded.
S: And do not make your hand to be shackled to your neck nor stretch it
forth to the utmost (limit) of its stretching forth, lest you should
(afterwards) sit down blamed, stripped off.

Y: Verily thy Lord doth provide sustenance in abundance for whom He
pleaseth, and He provideth in a just measure. For He doth know and
regard all His servants.
P: Lo! thy Lord enlargeth the provision for whom He will, and
straiteneth (it for whom He will). Lo, He was ever Knower, Seer of His
slaves.
S: Surely your Lord makes plentiful the means of subsistence for whom He
pleases and He straitens (them); surely He is ever Aware of, Seeing,
His servants.

Y: Kill not your children for fear of want: We shall provide sustenance
for them as well as for you. Verily the killing of them is a great sin.
P: Slay not your children, fearing a fall to poverty, We shall provide
for them and for you. Lo! the slaying of them is great sin.
S: And do not kill your children for fear of poverty; We give them
sustenance and yourselves (too); surely to kill them is a great wrong.

Y: Nor come nigh to adultery: for it is a shameful (deed) and an evil,
opening the road (to other evils).
