"Three Translations of The Koran (Al-Qur'an) side by side"

"
P: They said: We suffered hurt before thou camest unto us, and since
thou hast come unto us. He said: It may be that your Lord is going to
destroy your adversary and make you viceroys in the earth, that He may
see how ye behave.
S: They said: We have been persecuted before you came to us and since
you have come to us. He said: It may be that your Lord will destroy
your enemy and make you rulers in the land, then He will see how you
act.
007.130
Y: We punished the people of Pharaoh with years (of droughts) and
shortness of crops; that they might receive admonition.
P: And we straitened Pharaoh's folk with famine and dearth of fruits,
that peradventure they might heed.
S: And certainly We overtook Firon's people with droughts and diminution
of fruits that they may be mindful.
007.131
Y: But when good (times) came, they said, "This is due to us;" When
gripped by calamity, they ascribed it to evil omens connected with
Moses and those with him! Behold! in truth the omens of evil are theirs
in Allah's sight, but most of them do not understand!
P: But whenever good befell them, they said: This is ours; and whenever
evil smote them they ascribed it to the evil auspices of Moses and
those with him. Surely their evil auspice was only with Allah. But most
of them knew not.
